Functional gastrointestinal disorder (FGID) is a widely prevalent global condition affecting infants from the first day of their life to their later years. Healthy gastrointestinal (GI) microflora plays an important role in combating common GI diseases. Probiotics may restore normal bacterial microflora, thereby restoring the normal functioning of the GI tract. Some probiotic strains are more effective than others and show benefits in the treating and/or preventing specific GI diseases.
